A slim, amazing looking device
When I held oppo f17 pro in my hands, the first thing that struck me was the beautiful looking frosted glass face with a thin shaped element and two head glare. It is 7.48 mm long and weighs 164 grams. It has been a while since I took a thin phone in my hands. Oppo has with a quad camera setup in the back, which doesn’t do very well. The way the camera is arranged makes the phone unique from the back, it can be very difficult to clean the dust that accumulates in space.
The F17 Pro mobile has mix mid-range low-end chip sets with the Helio P95, while also featuring a dual punch-hole design with a Super AMOLED screen. Other standout features include 30W VOOC 4.0 fast charging, an exceptional quad camera setup and an ultra-thin chassis.
Design and Ergonomics
Of course, the design of the F17 Pro is one of the standout features. Though with a plastic back, the handset feels sleek. Really smooth! Even with a small stripe, the Renault 4 Pro comes with a sleek camera module that looks shiny. Best of all, the finish provides better grip and doesn’t pick up nearly enough fingerprints to call it a “fingerprint magnet”. One reason for Oppo’s claim is that it is “fingerprint-proof”.
Also, we have subtle purple accents around our magic blue sides and they look amazing. Blue itself also comes in different colors depending on the light. The frame holding them all together fits perfectly on the Renault 4 Pro.
Talking about the Renault 4 Pro, the back finish makes the F17 Pro feel comfortable, and it’s a pleasure to hold and type. It gives you a pleasant feeling of safe and comfortable grip. Amazing to see more premium appeal on Oppo’s cheap phones. This is unusual for thin phones such as the F17 Pro. The thickness of the device is only 7.48 mm, and one can expect to dig deep into the palm of your hand. But that is not the case.
Impressive small cutouts and more importantly for the dual front facing camera instead of the palace’s slim side bezels. We can’t mention any numbers, but it certainly looks smaller than most of the cartoon hole executions we’ve seen. Oppo states that the hole is only 3.7 mm in diameter.

There is also a fingerprint sensor at the bottom of the screen, which allows us to make better decisions in the short term. It is quite accurate but lags behind conventional capacitive in terms of speed. This is not the case with the Oppo smartphone. Until now, most of Oppo’s smartphones have offered blazing fast and reliable under-display fingerprints. Nevertheless, our only complaint would be the situation. The sensor should have been placed slightly higher because the current process requires some finger gymnastics.

With the design out of the way, now take a look at the hardware. The first thing that comes to mind is the Super AMOLED display. A Full HD + (1080 x 2400px) resolution fits in the 6.43 inch diagonal and has a small double punch hole for the front camera. Nothing really common, but when you add the advertised 800 leather height, the panel suddenly makes an impression. In our experience, the display is too bright to comfortably read outside text, but still the photos lose their color and contrast.
In a budget phone like this, a proper OLED panel is always more than welcome. With the display you also get a WideWine L1 certificate so that you can enjoy Amazon Prime Video and Netflix content in full HD.
Battery life and charging
The biggest business of being a super slim smartphone is battery. oppo f17 pro has a 4,000 mAh battery, which still meets market standards in 2020, but feels inferior to most competitors with a capacity of over 4,500 mAh and 5,000 mAh. Still close, we managed to get 6 hours of screen time on one charge, meaning that most users should get enough enjoy throughout the day.
The good news is that the board has 30W VOOC 4.0 charging technology to increase the battery from 0 to 100% in 57 minutes. And considering the fact that no one takes their phone completely charge, in just 20 minutes you should be able to charge them.
Software and features
Among the usual color OS 7.2 features, there are a few new things that are pushing the phone experience closer to the upper mid-range class via the F17 Pro. These new features are not only for looks, but also have some practical effects.
For example, there is an AI algorithm that detects your sleep and charging habits so that it can take care of your battery. If you are a habitual person and want to charge your phone at night, the software will take notice, finish the charge by about 80%, and turn off the battery before you wake up. The goal is to keep the battery healthy while you still want to start the day with a full charge.
At the other end of the spectrum is a super saving power mode to take care of things. Oppo states that with 5% left, phones will be able to stand for 15 hours or 70 minutes on standby, or 52 minutes on Google Maps or 35 minutes in WhatsApp.
The company managed to develop cool software and hardware features for Cool 22,990 (US 300 300 USD) and were bundled with an outstanding Super AMOLED panel. However, the Helio P95 chipset emerges as a bit of a slump and we think it will be difficult for the handset to compete with other brands that offer more powerful hardware.
